Rainy season

The rainy season is in full swing.  It generally rains every day but so far the rains have been brief, less than  a half hour periodically.    This is fortunate as the rain is heavy and if it lasts for hours then flooding will occur as the town does not have adequate drainage.

Centara visit

  I had drinks and dinner at the Centara Hotel in Nakula.   It is a top rate hotel and resort which is good of course.   The bad part is that it separates you from the real Thailand and what's the point of going to Thailand if you don't experience it?

Buddha Hill

I visited Buddha Hill overlooking Pattaya.  It's a nice ride on a motorbike in the morning.

Water leak

Occasionally standing water appears in the motorbike parking area.   I've been trying to figure out where it's coming from.   The appearance isn't always tied into storms, and this parking area is on the second floor so the water here isn't related to the flooding that occurs all around here when it rains hard.

I think that I know the answer now:  it's due to the massive swimming pool just overhead.  There are various pipes carrying swimming pool water and I think that when they run certain pumps there are leaks from the overhead pipes.

Low tide again

Another view of the extreme low tides I'm seeing.   The entire swimming area has turned into beach.

Motorbike rentals

Motorbike rental places are all over Pattaya.   The inventory is stored on the street at some claimed curb space.

Old fashioned construction

Construction is always underway in Pattaya.   They build scaffolding the old fashioned way: with bamboo.

Bars and Pool

Bars and pool tables go together in this town.

Bike washing shop

A light rain resulted in a very dirty looking motorbike due to all the dust on the bike.  So I took it to this shop which cleaned it for $2.20.  About five people washed and dried the bike.
